Funds raised towards this project will buy a mobile vapotherm unit which will enable Royal Hampshire County Hospital to deliver respiratory support to their youngest patients, including preterm babies wherever they are in the hospital and allow safe transfer to the high care areas. Not only will this machine make it easier for them to breathe, but it will also allow them to be held by their parents before being taken to the neonatal unit. Skin to skin contact is considered key to new born babies and their parents but many premature babies don’t get to experience this in the first few days of life. This equipment will keep the tiniest and most vulnerable patients in our hospitals safe during those first moments with their parents before receiving the vital care required.
