Funds raised towards this project will purchase two vein finders. This item of equipment is a non-invasive vein illuminator device intended to help find superficial veins for venepuncture and inserting cannulas. This essential procedure can be particularly upsetting and tricky in children’s wards where this item would largely be used. Purchase of this equipment would improve first stick success rate and reduce escalation calls due to failed attempts, pain, upset, fear and procedure time. Finding veins and achieving successful first time cannulation is particularly important to alleviate any further trauma for some of the bravest and most acutely unwell children in our hospitals.
