The Covid-19 virus is having a massive impact on healthcare worldwide and will place the NHS under massive pressure over the next few months.

One of the well documented complications of Covid and indeed a common cause of deterioration is a viral myocarditis which means that the virus attacks the cardiac muscle leading to impaired heart function and abnormal heart electrical rhythms.

Management of such a complication involves making a diagnosis based on blood tests and a cardiac echo scan to assess heart function.

As things stand we have limited scanners to offer this to deteriorating patients.

A fully portable scanner will improve our ability to make such a diagnosis and appropriately deal with the life threatening complications of the Covid infection.
