Project Description
Funds raised towards this project will help with the purchase of a new Sleep study machine for the Royal Hampshire County Hospital’s Neonatal unit.
A sleep study machine would allow the neonatal unit to closely monitor how much oxygen the most preterm babies need as they approach their discharge date. These babies have often had hospital stays of several months and having this capacity would enable clinicians to make their discharge planning as smooth and efficient as possible – reducing any stress for their parents at this critical time and preventing any unnecessary delays. The device is small enough that it can be easily moved between bedspaces and its portability gives it the added advantage of being able to be transferred to the baby’s home environment if community monitoring is required.
