Project Description
Funds raised towards this project will help us to purchase a QNRG+ Calorimetry Device for Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospitals intensive care unit. The QNRG+ Calorimetry Device is the next generation of Indirect Calorimetry (IC), enabling fast, accurate and intuitive Resting Energy Expenditure (REE) measurements.
There are many benefits to the patients that use this device, such as targeted nutrition support for complex critically ill patients, decreased length of stay in ICU and in hospital by supporting weaning from ventilator and enhancing recovery throughout hospital stay, and decreased short term mortality (28 days). It’s estimated that around 100-200 patients per year will benefit from the intervention.
