to hear from Helen Hitchings, Therapy Services Lead, about the Droplet Intelligent Hydration System and how it will help patients across Hampshire.
The Droplet intelligent hydration system is revolutionising how hydration is tackled in the Hampshire inpatient care environment. These ingenious systems would help patients to drink regularly, thus increasing wellbeing, speeding up recovery, shortening time spent in hospital and reducing staff time required to prompt patients to drink.
As aged patients become ill and during the colder months of the year, the body’s natural thirst response diminishes making it easy to forget to drink. The droplet smart base consists of mugs for warm drinks, tumblers for cold drinks, electronic elements and flow control lids which can measure the frequency of drinking and provide verbal and visual prompts to drink. The smart base even allows the recording of a personalised message when this is of benefit to individual patients.
This appeal is for 100 mugs to determine how much the system could improve hydration across all three hospitals by supporting one ward on each site to become a nutritional exemplar ward.
for our Hampshire Hospitals
“This is a revolutionary piece of equipment that could make a huge difference to our inpatients who are at risk of dehydration. There is no other product that has the same potential health benefits to our inpatient population.”
