The DRI Triton OCT Plus is a state-of-the art piece of Ophthalmic equipment that will vastly improve the care that we can provide to patients with eye diseases. These eye conditions include those suffering with retinal disorders and glaucoma, age related macular degeneration, eyesight complications as a result of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and those with rheumatoid conditions.

The equipment takes high quality scans called ‘’Swept Source’’ and will allow Winchester hospital to set up and run a fully functioning ‘virtual’ clinic with better diagnosis and care for patients. It will also allow all patients to be seen locally rather than having to travel to Southampton Hospital as is currently the case for many eye patients, presenting a particular challenge for the elderly or those reliant on public transport.

In addition to significant patient benefits this machine will allow nurses and Optometrists to be less reliant on the consultants as they will have their own access to this state of the art equipment.
