This equipment will save the lives of suspected stroke patients. Presently suspected stroke patients are diagnosed following a lumbar puncture to collect spinal fluid. The sample is then biked to Southampton Hospital for analysis which is time consuming and risky at a moment when time is critical, there is also an element of manual inputting giving a margin for error which would be erased with this new technology. This machine will allow clinicians in the blood science department to turn around these vital results and make life saving treatment decisions as quickly and accurately as possible.
