Current equipment at the hospital allows specialists to perform echocardiograms and basic cranial ultrasounds. This extension to the current ultrasound equipment will allow much more effective diagnostic investigations into the lungs, livers and abdomens of some of the most critically ill babies and children in our hospitals. This flexibility of this equipment will also mean that babies and children can be scanned at the bedside which is hugely beneficial and less risky and frightening for both the children being treated and their carers too.
