Nearly 200 patients needed laser treatment for kidney stones in Winchester Hospital in 2020. In addition to stone surgery, this cutting-edge new laser will allow soft tissue surgery which is not currently possible in Winchester. This will mean that patients suffering from urology issues relating to an enlarged prostate and bladder cancer can also be treated locally rather than travel further afield which makes an enormous difference at a frightening and upsetting time in a patient’s recovery journey. The new laser will also reduce operating time, allowing the fantastic urology team the potential to operate on more patients in need.
