Shenzhen Pengrui Public Welfare Foundation launched an international aid program in June 2020. Since the launch they have made a significant donation of medical equipment to the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The supplies, which have already been put to use, have helped to address critical medical equipment shortages in the Hampshire area of England and served to improve local treatment options.

Lara Alloway, Chief Medical Officer of Hampshire Hospitals said “This incredible donation has dramatically increased the level of care we can offer to Covid-19 affected patients at a delicate moment.”

The medical supplies consist of much-needed equipment currently available for fighting the Coronavirus pandemic, including 20 Mindray SV600 ventilators and 10 Mindray TE7 ultrasound systems. These two products are widely recognized among medical professionals for their ability to alleviate symptoms of COVID-19. The equipment has been made available in Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and Andover War Memorial Hospital.

The donor, Shenzhen Pengrui Public Welfare Foundation, was founded by a well-known Chinese entrepreneur, Mr. Xu Hang, who graduated from Tsinghua University and co-founded Mindray in 1991. The company focuses on patient monitoring and life support, in-vitro diagnostics and medical imaging system. It aspires to improve medical conditions all around the world by enhancing the efficiency of diagnosis and treatment with better healthcare solutions.

In 2001, Mr. Xu founded the Parkland Group and initiated his cross industry innovation experiment. One of his masterpieces is One Shenzhen Bay — A groundbreaking mixed-use development on the coastal waterfront.

It stands out as one of the world’s most high-end coastal urban complexes. It has undoubtedly become one of the thriving city’s most stand-out icons of Shenzhen China. It is also the culmination of a decade of hard work by Parkland Group.

In 2018, Mr. Xu founded the Shenzhen Pengrui Public Welfare Foundation, a corporate foundation under the Parkland Group. This donation is one of the charity programs that Mr. Xu has launched to actively integrate resources in support of anti-epidemic campaigns around the world. Since its establishment, the Foundation has been committed to various public welfare activities, including poverty alleviation, education development and the construction of attractive cities. Under the leadership of Mr. Xu, the Parkland Group and Shenzhen Pengrui Public Welfare Foundation actively responded to the demands of the country, standing ready to take on responsibilities and providing enormous support to China’s anti-epidemic operations. When China had achieved a measure of control over the epidemic, Parkland adjusted its focus once again to the worldwide battle against Covid-19.

Alex Whitfield, Chief Executive of Hampshire Hospitals said “When NHS finances are under unprecedented strain, this donation from Mr Xu’s Foundation could literally not have been more timely. We are humbled by the generosity of this gift.” The donation was facilitated by The Hampshire Medical Fund, a charity which buys state of the art medical equipment each year for the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
